I'm not certain of that - look up High School Us History: Student Edition 2018 1st Edition
by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Author) and the first review is:
Practically every section we have covered so far has included some group the bad old U.S. has victimized on its march to universal domination. Use with caution.
I suspect the problem is less about skipping the ugly parts and more in glorifying the good parts. We teach that Lincoln ended slavery - which is a lie. We teach that the civil rights movement was successful in reaching equality for other races in America - which is a lie.
We teach that oppression of women ended sometime in the last century. We teach that science won the Scopes Trial and that was the end of religious anti-intellectualism.
We teach that the Gilded Age was something that ended in 1900 instead of recognizing class war never ends. We teach that America triumphantly emerged from the Great Depression instead of noting that the economic problems that cause an event like that have not been solved.
Even when teaching the origin of America we say the "new world" was the place to go to be free of aristocracy - which is ridiculous as aristocrats are with us right now in America - just without fancy titles.
