This article is similarly muddled on all fronts. As you note Waymo is the end of the gig labor so why spend so much time on what is now mostly irrelevant?
The data on Waymo safety is available and it is safer than a human driver and in a completely different class of automation from Tesla. Arguing that we shouldn't automate away drivers is fine but instead of doing that you keep going back to this collateral damage thing where you falsely pretend all vendors are the same.
