The offensive assault that is the new Scrubs

The offensive assault that is the new Scrubs

Season 1, Episode 3 of 2026 Scrubs.

We open with J.D. having his student doctors guess what disease the old person in front of them has. It turns out to be an STD and that’s funny cause old people having sex is hilarious!

The next scene relies on J.D. being his ex wife’s boss. J.D. wasn’t even a member of the hospital’s staff, or any hospital staff, when the former Chief of Medicine promoted him above his ex wife to directly become Chief. So that crazy level of old boy’s network (they knew each other on the original show) misogyny in the first episode sets us up nicely for this scene.

In this scene J.D. has messed with his wife’s patient purely because, as her boss, he can. As was established in a previous episode, J.D.’s wife initiated the divorce so, ha ha, time to use the workplace, and potentially a patient’s health, to get back at her. But it’s all equal fun of course and a female friend tells J.D.’s wife to “Get a grip.”

Then a few scenes where the assault stops briefly except for J.D. complaining that he shouldn’t have used a Wonder Woman example for invulnerability because Wonder Woman is not masculine enough.

Fortunately those scenes are followed up with one where J.D. gives a female intern doctor and his wife a Charlie Brown Wah Wah voice. Cause not listening to women is hilarious! Also his ex wife slipping on a newly buffed floor after losing another argument with J.D. is hilarious!

Next is a scene where we make fun of home schooled kids. But not because their parents were trying to indoctrinate them or something. Just because home schooling is different and that’s hilarious!

Next is a scene where we make fun of the hospital IT guy. Cause people that are socially awkward are hilarious!

Now we skip over a scene where the IT guy has shut down the hospital’s computers (don’t ask) and have a nice scene of a male doctor objectifying a women doctor (happens to be the home schooled one) fixing her hair. The male doctor says no not objectification and it’s that he admires her but doesn’t say why.

Now we are back with the IT guy and it’s revealed that J.D.’s best friend and IT guy play D&D together. Cause playing D&D is hilarious!

Now J.D. imagining an argument between him and his ex wife in a pro wrestling ring where he beats her up. Cause a man physically hurting a women is hilarious!

Next a scene where J.D.’s best friend listens to a woman’s opinion because she tricked him into it. Because of all the surrounding misogyny this scene actually comes off heart felt.

Now a scene where J.D.’s ex wife is too emotional to make rational decisions and J.D. calls her on caring too much for her patient. This is particularly hilarious because J.D. having sympathy for patients is considered one of his strongest traits. Also J.D. followed his ex wife into the women’s bathroom even though she said stop following me — but that’s just bonus misogyny.

Now we’re teaching the home schooled doctor how to drive so that she can understand driving analogies when being taught surgery. This scene is either not offensive or sneakily the most patriarchal scene in the entire show. You be the judge:
