> Four years of the Trump administration have proven exceedingly difficult for many women, particularly women of color and trans women. The innumerable assaults on fundamental human rights include decimating medical protections for members of the LGBTQ community; appointing anti-choice, homophobic federal judges, quietly gutting the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women’s definition of domestic violence and a concerted effort to block asylum-seekers fleeing gender-based violence.

Furthermore conservatives may attempt to make this violence as [legally sanctioned as possible](https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/08/04/no-fault-divorce-jd-vance-women/). However the animosity against immigration doesn’t have legs with US fertility at a record low. Japanese billionaires are [beginning to cave](https://japan-forward.com/uniqlo-founder-stirs-heated-debate-on-whats-best-for-japans-workforce-of-the-future/) and eventually so will their US peers.

The patriarchy’s time travel plan for handling the declining birth rate and reduced religiosity is a fail. However even as more billionaires jump ship from a losing strategy, it might not matter to the media. There is a “pollution paradox” that only corporations that most need deregulation invest heavily in lobbying the government.

Similarly the media maybe only choosing to amplify the voices of billionaires that can help them win the most attention. The script these lionized billionaires read maybe already written.
